How was life aboard a US Navy Destroyer? A little less comfortable compared to Uncle Sam’s larger warships it seems. Today I present this small collection of stories that I remember from my great uncle, a crewmember aboard the USS The Sullivans during the Korean War. He passed away recently and I wanted to honor his memory by sharing the stories he told me. In a way, he laid the ground work for this website as it was the stories of his naval career that inspired me to study history. Without further delay, lets look at life aboard the USS The Sullivans.
